Facebook is rolling additional updates that may affect Pages organic reach. The latest update involves how Facebook will count a Page’s organic impressions based only on when that Page is viewed on a user’s screen. This “viewable-only” methodology brings organic reach count in line with ad reach count.
In a company blog post, Facebook acknowledged this update may negatively affect a Page’s reach:
“Since this is stricter reporting, some Pages may see lower reach figures than before.”
To help Page administrators adjust to and better understand the new counts, Facebook will be providing comparative organic reach reports: one following the old methodology and one following the new. The comparative reports will be made available for only a short period of time before Facebook moves to only reporting on the new methodology.
