New Research Shows Only 4% of U.S. Businesses Are Ready for Voice Search

A new analysis report by Uberall shows that 96% of small to medium-sized businesses are failing to meet the criteria for voice-search. Uberall chose to use 37 different directories that directly link to voice search platforms, including Google, Bing and Yelp. The company compared the businesses on these websites and scored them based on the accuracy of their profiles in categories such as address, business hours and more.

According to the analysis, the stores with the highest scores included dentists, health food stores, home improvement contractors, criminal defense attorneys and dollar stores. The categories that scored the lowest include consumer protection organizations, congressional representatives and art galleries. Most errors were found to include incorrect opening hours, website addresses, business names and street addresses.

The company asked 1,000 consumers about their voice search usage. The majority, 57%, stated that they did not use voice search at all. But 43% stated that they use voice search at varying levels of frequency and 21% use it weekly.

Voice search is growing rapidly. Businesses should prepare by ensuring their information found online is accurate.
