Pinterest, a popular image-based social networking site, announced earlier this week that hashtags now work on its platform. Users interested in joining a feed about a particular topic can now add hashtags to their image descriptions. Users can also search by hashtag now to see feeds of items within those particular categories.
Pinterest joins numerous other social networking sites that use hashtags as a way of identifying images and messages on specific topics:
