Facebook published its second quarter earnings this week. While the earnings report offered a variety of financial numbers, it’s user data points to growing opportunities for companies seeking to increase marketing on the platform. Specifically,
- Facebook has over 2 billion monthly active users
- 32 billion users are active on a daily basis (a 17% increase over last year’s data)
- 87% of all ad revenue comes from mobile ads
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerburg had this to say about the earnings, growth and future of the platform:
For the past decade, we’ve focused on making the world more open and connected. We have a lot more to do here to give people a voice and help everyone stay connected with their family and friends. But now I believe we have a responsibility to do even more. Our new mission is to bring the world closer together.
The ways in which Facebook will seek to bring the world closer together will be to:
- Build more engaging communities, starting with giving greater insights and data to group owners
- Improve dynamic ads to extend into additional spaces
- Improve targeting and measurement for ads
