In the first quarter of 2018, Google will release two smartwatches, which it claims will be the first of many under its flagship Android Wear 2.0. The smartwatches will not have Google or Pixel branding on them, but will instead be branded with the name of the company who has manufactured them. That company’s name has not yet been released.
The demand for wearables has remained low since their release. It appears Google hopes that the new devices will reignite the interest in wearables in the future.
Several existing Android Wear devices will receive an update to the new platform after the release of the new smartwatches. And Google will be partnering with others to release additional devices with the new platform on them in 2017.
