Google Launches New Q&A Structured Data

Google has announced its expanding support for rich results within the Question & Answer pages online. After testing this update a year ago, the company is now widely expanding the capability.

Google is changing the format, using a carousel of answers under a snippet that asks a question. Google will also show the top answer based on certain critical criteria. To expand on this format, Google will add a structured data type called a Q&A page, a “new rich result type for question and answer sites.”

Pages that use question and answer format will work with the new structure. For example, help and support websites, message boards and more. This new rich result format will increase the display of a search result among many other search results. Your snippet could include a carousel of answers that a searcher can sift through. This simple act could increase click-through rates for your website.
